The Conference of Thuringian Student Unions (KTS) is the legally regulated union of the nine Thuringian student bodies . It represents the approximately 50,000 students vis-à-vis the state of Thuringia , that is, above all vis-à-vis the state parliament and the Ministry of Science .

Each Thuringian university sends two delegates , so the KTS has a total of 20 delegates from the ten Thuringian universities. The KTS elects two equal speakers from among its members.

The KTS is a member of the action alliance against tuition fees and one of the supporting organizations of the student accreditation pool . It elects the student members in the administrative board of the Thuringia Student Union . The KTS is financed on the basis of a financial agreement between its members.

Legal basis

The legal basis for the formation of the KTS is the Thuringian Higher Education Act in its version of December 21, 2006:

§ 75 Conference of Thuringian student bodies
The conference of Thuringian student bodies, made up of student bodies from the universities, represents the interests of students vis-à-vis the ministry and is given the opportunity to comment on regulations that affect students. It can specify more details about its tasks, its composition and its external representation through a set of rules, which requires the approval of a two-thirds majority of the central bodies of the student bodies.

Member student bodies

The student bodies of the following universities are represented at KTS:

Since the two Thuringian vocational academies are not within the scope of the Higher Education Act, these students have no voting rights at KTS. With the decision of the Thuringian State Parliament on June 22, 2016 to convert the State Study Academy Thuringia with the two professional academies into the Dual University Gera Eisenach (DHGE). The DHGE law comes into force on September 1, 2016. The student body of the Cooperative State University Gera Eisenach becomes a member of the conference Thuringian student body when the law comes into force.
