reception

  • laut.de praises the "rousing, polyphonic singing" and the "sheer effervescent, sun-drenched sense of harmony".
  • Christian Preußer from Plattentests.de describes the band's sound as "unmistakable" and "originally British".
  • Pitchwork.com calls the Konk a Britpop album. The album refers to David Bowie and the title to the Kinks that the band is trying to imitate. ("Their handle factually references David Bowie, but the album title slyly and conjures the Kinks, the band these guys try hardest to emulate".)
  • BBC Music thinks that much of the album seems to boil down to recycling guitar notes and intros ("The album seems, on the whole, a little contrived with the recycling of old guitar lines and intros"). The band is less enthusiastic and ready to impress in their music. ("It is the sound of a band who don't seem as enthused and as ready to impress".)
