Konrad Arnold Schmid

Konrad Arnold Schmid (born February 23, 1716 in Lüneburg , † November 16, 1789 in Braunschweig ) was a German writer and philologist.

Life

He studied theology and classical philology. During his studies he joined the literary circle of the Bremen contributions . Schmid had held the rector's office of the Lüneburg Johanneum from 1746 before moving to the Collegium Carolinum in Braunschweig as professor of religious studies and Latin in 1761 .

His daughter Marie Dorothea married his colleague JJ Eschenburg . Schmid died in Braunschweig in 1789.

Schmid is best known as Lessing's friend , with whom he maintained a lively correspondence.
