Bollstatter manuscript, today Berlin

Konrad Bollstatter , also known as Konrad Müller , (* around 1420/30 in Oettingen in Bavaria ; † around 1482/83 in Augsburg ) was a professional scribe .

His father was Konrad Müller (the elder) from a family of writers from Deiningen ; possibly an illegitimate descendant of the noble lords of Bollstatt (died before the end of 1440). He was the clerk of the office of the Counts of Öttingen .

Bollstatter began his career as a clerk in the office of the Counts of Öttingen (documented 1446–1453). Among other things, he was involved in the writing of the oldest Ottingian fief book . In the years 1455 and 1458 by scribe notes in Höchstädt, he settled in Augsburg no later than 1466, where he lived - probably in modest circumstances - as a professional scribe.

While Augsburg book printing conquered the literary market at the same time, Bollstatter was not concerned with mass-produced goods, but with literature for connoisseurs and lovers. So far, 15 vernacular, partly illustrated manuscripts have been identified by his hand. Bollstatters productive handling of his models, which he edited and treated philologically , is of particular importance .

Bollstatter describes himself as the author of a short poem by the Daughters of the Devil . He probably wrote the translation of Burchard's Chronicle of Ursberg , which has been preserved in a later Dresden manuscript.
