Conrad IV. (Weinsberg)

Konrad IV von Weinsberg († around 1324) was governor in Lower Swabia . He did his best on the imperial side in the Reich War against Count Eberhard from Württemberg , whose subjugated county he temporarily administered.

Life

He came from the Reich ministerial family of the Lords of Weinsberg and was a son of Engelhard von Weinsberg and Anna von Löwenstein. In 1277 he was married to Luitgard von Neuffen and through this marriage came into the possession of the lords of Neuffen and Winnenden , which he soon sold to the Counts of Württemberg . In 1287 he is mentioned together with his brother Konrad († 1304) in the entourage of King Rudolf , in 1293 by King Adolf . A distinction between the two brothers is not always possible. In 1304 he took part in King Albrecht's campaign against Wenceslaus II of Bohemia . In 1307 he was called to maintain the peace in Speyer . In 1308 Konrad IV was bailiff of the lower bailiwick in Lower Swabia, and later also the upper bailiff. In 1308 he attended the election of Henry VII as emperor in Frankfurt am Main . In 1310 he was married to Agnes von Brauneck for the second time . After 1310 he had the supreme command in the Imperial War against Eberhard von Württemberg . He quickly succeeded in subjugating the entire county of Württemberg . He is also mentioned at the siege of Wirtemberg Castle , the Hohenaspergs , the subjugation of Markgröningen and Backnang and the victory over Count Konrad von Oettingen. From 1312 to 1315, Konrad IV was, together with Johann von Böhmen, administrators of the subjugated county of Württemberg. In the throne dispute between Ludwig of Bavaria and Friedrich of Austria in 1316 Konrad initially sided with Ludwig in the army in front of Eßlingen , but in 1320 he pledged his allegiance to King Friedrich. In 1323 Konrad IV is mentioned, in 1325 he was already dead.
