Konrad Münch from Landskron

Konrad Münch von Landskron († August 24, 1402 ) was Bishop of Basel from 1393 to 1395 .

Life

Konrad came from the knightly noble family Münch , who were wealthy in Basel and the surrounding area and provided several Basel mayors. His parents were the Reichsvogt of Basel and Schultheiss of Solothurn Burkhart II and Margarita von Grünenberg . He graduated in 1365 and in 1367 Bologna was 1360 canon in Speyer , 1361 domkustos and 1379 provost in Basel. From 1371 to around 1380 he was provost of the St. Peter's Abbey in Basel . In August 1393 the Basel cathedral chapter elected him bishop. That of Pope Boniface IX. Wilhelm von Coudenberghe , who was appointed bishop, did not succeed in entering his diocese; after negotiations between the Pope and the city of Basel, he was appointed Bishop of Tournai in 1399 . Konrad tried unsuccessfully to reduce the diocese's heavy debts. He resigned in 1395 and retired to the Dompropstei. After his death in 1402 he was buried in Basel Minster .
