Life

After studying in Vienna , he received the title of Baccalaureus in 1445 . In 1461, after Kaspar Ayndorffer's death, he was elected Abbot of Tegernsee, whose work he continued in his thirty-year reign. He completed the late Gothic expansion of the church and monastery in Tegernsee, which began during Ayndorffer's official activity, a new choir with a two-story sacristy and the church's three-aisled nave were completed under his direction. He had a fortification belt with defensive towers put on around the monastery. He also expanded the library of the monastery to become the largest library in southern Germany at the time. He was unable to realize the merger of all German Benedictine abbeys into one congregation with uniform disciplinary powers that he had planned . He died on January 24, 1492 in the Tegernsee Monastery .
