Constantine Đokić

Konstantin Đokić (born September 26, 1946 in Crnjelovo near Bijeljina , Bosnia-Herzegovina ) was the Serbian Orthodox Bishop for the Diocese of Central Europe from 1991 to 2012 .

Life

Konstantin attended elementary school in Bijeljina and finished his theological studies in Belgrade in 1971 . On March 28, 1970, he took his monastic vows. As a monk priest , he first worked in the administration of the Zvornik - Tuzla eparchy . From 1978 to 1982 he worked as a teacher in the seminary of the Krka Monastery in Croatia , and since 1982 he has been a teacher of liturgy and English in the seminary in Sremski Karlovci .

Ordained bishop on July 23, 1991, he was since September 1, 1991 the bishop of the Serbian Orthodox eparchy in Germany , Austria and Switzerland ( Serbian Orthodox Diocese for Central Europe ) . Since 2010 he has also been chairman of the Orthodox Bishops' Conference of Switzerland , the association of all Orthodox dioceses in this country. At the end of June 2011, the bishop handed over pastoral care for Austria to Irinej (Bulović) , bishop of the Bačka eparchy in Novi Sad , who thus became interim bishop for Austria in order to administer and manage the new Serbian Orthodox eparchy for Austria, Switzerland and Italy to install.

In December 2012, he was suspended from his post according to a press release from the diocese. Sergije Karanović was his successor .
