The Eparchy of Dusseldorf and Germany ( Serbian : Епархија диселдорфска и све њемачке, Eparhija diseldorfska i sve njemačke; formerly eparchy Frankfurt and Germany and eparchy Central Europe) is a Diasporaeparchie the Serbian Orthodox Church , in charge of the Federal Republic of Germany .

The seat of the bishopric was Hildesheim-Himmelsthür from 1978 to 2015 , with the Assumption Church as the cathedral church and the monastery of All Saints Mother of God .

From 2015 to 2018, Frankfurt am Main was the seat of the diocese. Since then, the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital Düsseldorf has been the new seat of the eparchy. The previous Düsseldorf parish church was elevated to a cathedral .

Episkop (bishop) of Düsseldorf and all of Germany has been Grigorije (Durić) since September 16, 2018. The doctor of theology was previously the episcope of the eparchy (diocese) of Zachumlien and Herzegovina .

history

1990s

On December 6, 1990, the Central Europe Eparchy was founded at an ordinary session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, under the leadership of the Serbian Patriarch of His Holiness Pavle at the time .

At that time, two independent new eparchies were founded from the eparchy of Western Europe . These were the eparchy Britain Scandinavia based in the Swedish Stockholm and the Eparchy of Frankfurt and Germany (eparchy Central Europe) with headquarters in Hildesheim's then-Himmelsthür.

The new eparchy was composed of the countries Germany, Austria , Switzerland , Italy and Spain . As the first episcope of the eparchy, the Protosingel and former professor at the Seminary of Sremski Karlovci in Vojvodina , Konstantin (Đokić) was chosen and ordained bishop on May 23, 1991 .

Over time, the Central European eparchy experienced some territorial changes. 1994 was Italy Metropolie Zagreb - Ljubljana connected and Spain came to the newly established eparchy Western Europe, based in the French Paris . The parishes and parishes in Germany, Switzerland and Austria remained in the network of the Central Europe Eparchy.

2010s

In July 2011, the two Alpine countries Austria and Switzerland were also removed from the eparchy and joined the newly established Austria-Switzerland eparchy.

In December 2012, the then episcope Konstantin (Đokić) was suspended as the episcope of the eparchy and the current Serbian patriarch Irinej took over administration of the eparchy until 2014.

From 2014 to 2017 Sergije (Karanović) was the episcope of this diocese. He was chosen on May 23, 2014 by the annual meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church as the episcope of the eparchy.

From 2017 until Bishop Grigorije took office, Andrej (Cilerdzic) , Bishop of the Austria-Switzerland diocese, headed the diocese as administrator.

At the meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church from 14 to 29 May 2015, the name was changed to its current name.

By resolution of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church , the previous episcope of the eparchy (diocese) of Zachumlia and Herzegovina Grigorije (Durić) became the new bishop of the Ordinary Session, which took place from April 29 to May 10, 2018 in Belgrade Eparchy elected. He started his service on September 16, 2018. By the synodal resolution of November of the same year, the Eparchy of Frankfurt and all of Germany was renamed the Eparchy of Düsseldorf and all of Germany with its seat in Düsseldorf.

In 2019 the Diocese of Düsseldorf and all of Germany will celebrate their 50th anniversary.
