Konstantin Schlottmann

Konstantin Schlottmann (born March 7, 1819 in Minden , East Westphalia, as Christoph Wilhelm Constantin Schlottmann ; † November 8, 1887 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Schlottmann studied philology , philosophy and Protestant theology at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and completed his studies with a doctorate . Then he attended the seminary in Wittenberg . Back in Berlin, he was in "1847 Old Testament theology " habilitation .

Schlottmann spent the politically troubled period of 1848/49 as a preacher at various churches. In 1850 he was called to the evangelical parish of Constantinople as an embassy preacher . As such, he began to publish his impressions and experiences in lyrical form.

In 1855 Schlottmann accepted a position as professor of New Testament exegesis at the University of Zurich . In 1858 he moved to the University of Bonn and in 1866 to the University of Halle .

Around 1884 Schlottmann resigned his offices one after the other and retired into private life. He died on November 8, 1887, at the age of 68, in Halle and was buried in the Laurentiusfriedhof .
