Konstantin Ziegra, also: Constantin Ziegra etc. (* 1617 in Döbeln ; † May 2, 1691 in Wittenberg ) was a German physicist and Lutheran theologian.

Life

Born as the son of the headmaster of the Döbelner Hospital Georg Ziegra, he attended Schulpforta and matriculated at the University of Leipzig in 1631 . After he acquired the right to give lectures in 1636, he moved to the University of Wittenberg on April 23, 1638 . There he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree on April 21, 1640 and was accepted as an adjunct at the faculty of philosophy on October 18, 1645 . He stayed in this post for some time, in the meantime completed his licentiate degree in theology before taking over the professorship in physics from his predecessor Johann Sperling in 1658 .

Ziegra was one of the last Wittenberg representatives who emphasized much more theology in physics. This is also reflected in its graduation to doctor of theology. Only after him did the scientific approach take precedence at the University of Wittenberg and thus the spiritual tendencies in physics were pushed out. Nevertheless, one can also say that he himself supported that movement through his point of view.
