Kordula Kovac (born October 22, 1957 in Welschen Ennest ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Kordula Kovac grew up in Welschen Ennest , in the municipality of Kirchhundem in North Rhine-Westphalia . After completing secondary school, she began her training as an administrative officer in the middle service in 1973. From 1980 to 1987 she headed the office of the CDU member of the Bundestag Paul Breuer , after which she worked as a freelance journalist for various newspapers in her home region. Since 2007 she has been the managing partner of the Clara mine dump in Wolfach-Kirnbach. Kordula Kovac is married and has two grown children, a daughter and a son.

Political party

Kordula Kovac has been a member of the CDU and the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA) for over 40 years . From 1994 to 2015 she was a city councilor and parliamentary group leader of the CDU in Wolfach . From November 1999 to 2015 Kordula Kovac was the deputy mayor of Wolfach. Since 2009 she has been a district councilor in the Ortenau district.

Kordula Kovac has been chairwoman of the Wolfach CDU branch since 1993. Since 1999 she has been a member of the district executive committee of the CDU Ortenau as press spokeswoman, later as secretary and since 2013 as deputy district chairwoman. Kordula Kovac has been a member of the CDU South Baden district committee since 2015.

From 2015 to September 2017 she was a member of the CDU state executive committee for Baden-Württemberg.

In 2013 Kordula Kovac was elected to the district board of the Frauen Union (FU) Ortenau, is a member of the district board of the FU Südbaden and since 2015 a member of the state board of the FU Baden-Württemberg.

Since 2012 Kordula Kovac has been a member of the CDU State Committee for Rural Areas of the CDU Baden-Württemberg .

In the 2013 federal election , Kordula Kovac entered the German Bundestag via the CDU Baden-Württemberg state list . After the initially elected Peter Hinz refused to accept his mandate, Kovac became a member of the German Bundestag as the successor to the list . This means that Kordula Kovac is not a so-called successor because she already took over her mandate at the constituent session of the German Bundestag on October 22, 2013. It has no constituency, but as a so-called list representative is responsible for the southern Baden region. In the 18th German Bundestag , Kovac was a full member of the Bundestag Committee on Food and Agriculture . There she was spokeswoman for viticulture policy and rapporteur for her group for spirits and special crops . She was also a full member of the Petitions Committee and secretary in the German Bundestag.

For the 2017 Bundestag election , Kovac ran for a mandate from the German Bundestag in 10th place on the CDU state list of Baden-Württemberg . Due to the fact that the CDU was able to win all constituencies in Baden-Württemberg, Kovac left the Bundestag by not taking her place on the list.

Others

Kordula Kovac was, among other things, honorary chairman of the association for the visitor mines in Oberwolfach and an assessor in the handball association in Wolfach. Since 1995 she has been a member of the board of the Caritasverband Kinzigtal eV

At the beginning of 2017 she initiated the establishment of the association 'Network for Families and Midwives Ortenau eV'. Kordula Kovac is the 1st chairwoman of the association, which has set itself the goal of improving the supply of midwifery help in the rural Ortenau district. The association is funded as a pilot project by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) with around 100,000 euros.
