Koretin ( Albanian also Koretini , Serbian - Cyrillic Коретин ) is a village in Kosovo and belongs to the municipality of Kamenica . After the seat of the municipality, Koretin is the largest village in it. Koretin is located about six kilometers south of Kamenica on the national road 123 to Korminjan . In 2011 the village had 3,476 inhabitants, the majority of whom are Albanians .
Koretin lies in the plain of a valley surrounded by hills. The village is divided by the Kriva Reka brook , which drains into the Danube via the Southern Morava . The quality of the water is a problem especially in the summer months. The disused tile and ceramics factory north of the village used to employ 5,000 people. Agriculture is characterized by fruit growing for domestic supply and export, and beekeeping is also practiced. The village has a primary school and a health center.
In the area of the place there is a necropolis , which has not been investigated in more detail so far , which for structural reasons and because of grave goods - various bracelets and ceramic objects - is dated to the early Slavic period between 800 and 1100 AD. Findings of bones suggest that it is a medieval Serbian cemetery. It has been a listed building since 1970. An old mosque and the remains of an early church have also been preserved.
