Korinna Schumann (born April 10, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian trade union official and politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). Since April 2018 she has been chairwoman of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB), a member of the Federal Council delegated by the Vienna State Parliament since May 2018 and Vice-President of the ÖGB since June 2018.

Life

After finishing elementary school, Korinna Schumann attended an economics high school in Vienna. She has been with the Federal Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection (BMASK) since 1989 , where she began her trade union activity in 1990 as a member of the staff representatives and has been chairwoman of the trade union works committee and the service committee since 2004.

Since 1995 she has been a management member of Federal Representation 7 (Labor, Social and Health) of the Public Service Union (GÖD), where she has been a member of the board and deputy head of the women's division since 2006. In 2007 she was elected a member of the ÖGB Federal Women’s Presidium and the ÖGB Federal Executive Committee. Since 2013 she has been a member of the board of directors of the ÖGB, since 2014 a member of the SPÖ federal party executive and the SPÖ federal women's executive.

On April 10, 2018, she was elected as the successor to Renate Anderl as federal women chairwoman of the ÖGB. On May 25, 2018, she also succeeded Renate Anderl as a member of the Federal Council sent by the Vienna State Parliament , where she joined the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, the Committee on Family and Youth, the Committee on Innovation, Technology and the Future, the Health Committee, Member of the Incompatibility Committee, the Economic Committee and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. On June 14, 2018, she was elected as the successor to Renate Anderl as Vice President of the ÖGB. After Inge Posch-Gruska moved to the Burgenland State Parliament on February 28, 2019, Korinna Schumann took over the chairmanship of the SPÖ Federal Parliamentary Group.

In the 2019 National Council election, she is running for 19th place on the SPÖ federal list. Before the beginning of the XXVII. During the legislative period , she was elected to the club presidium of the SPÖ parliamentary club on October 22, 2019 .

She bears the official title of official director and received the professional title of councilor .
