Renate Anderl (born September 5, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), trade unionist ( FSG ) and President of the Federal Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees (AK) since April 27, 2018 .

Anderl was Executive Vice President of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation from 2014 to 2018 and a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2015 to May 2018 by the Vienna City Council and State Parliament .

Career as a trade unionist

Anderl grew up in the 10th district of Favoriten, the daughter of a housekeeper, and attended a business school in Vienna from 1977 to 1980 . From 1980 she began to work as an administrative employee at the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB), in the metal-mining-energy trade union , or metal-textile trade union . She stopped this activity in 2003 when she was appointed federal women secretary of the metal-textile union and a member of the federal executive committee of this branch union. At the same time, Anderl also became a member of the ÖGB federal women's executive committee. From 2008 to 2009 she was the executive chairwoman of the federal women’s union in the metal-textile-food trade union and was a member of the presidium of this branch union until 2014.

From 2009 to 2014 Renate Anderl was also deputy federal women chairwoman of the ÖGB as well as federal women chairwoman and deputy federal chairwoman of the PRO-GE branch . Since 2011 she has been the women's spokesperson for Vienna in the parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists . From September 2014 to April 2018 she was the federal women’s chairwoman of the ÖGB, her successor is Korina Schumann. From September 16, 2014, she was also ÖGB Vice President as the successor to Sabine Oberhauser, who had switched to the federal government . Korinna Schumann succeeded her in this role on June 14, 2018 .

Political career

Renate Anderl has been a member of the Vienna SPÖ Committee since 2007 and a co-opted member of the Vienna Women's Committee of the SPÖ Vienna since 2013 . After the state and municipal council elections in Vienna in 2015 , the newly constituted Vienna regional parliament and municipal council for the SPÖ sent her to the Austrian Federal Council as a member . Korinna Schumann succeeded her as Federal Councilor in May 2018 .

Other functions

In the context of labor and social justice , Anderl worked as a so-called expert lay judge for the employees' side at the Higher Regional Court of Vienna from 2007 to 2011 . From 2013 to 2014 Renate Anderl held the office of Vice-President of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Vienna. Since 2013 she has also been a member of the board of the Federal Chamber of Labor. In February 2018 it was announced that she would succeed Rudolf Kaske as President of the Austrian Chamber of Labor .

Private life

Renate Anderl has been married since 1986 and is the mother of one son.
