The Kowscha ( Russian Ковжа ) is a tributary of the White Lake in the northwest of the Vologda Oblast in the European north of Russia .
The Kowsha flows from the western end of Lake Kowschskoye for about 10 km in a westerly direction before it meets the Volga-Baltic Canal . The remaining course of the river in a southerly direction to the north bank of the White Lake is congruent with the Volga-Baltic Sea Canal. The most important tributary of the Kowsha is the Tumba from the right. The river length is 86 km². The catchment area covers 5000 km².
