history

Mühlbach Buckau
View from the southwest

The Kruger Mill is a former industrial mill. It was built in 1905 on an existing barrage instead of a previous mill. The builder was the Bücknitz miller Carl Krüger. The mill is a four-story building made of red, unplastered clinker bricks. It has a horizontal Francis turbine . This turbine was restored and has been used to generate water-powered electricity ever since. The electricity is fed into the grid. The technology for grain processing is still available on the individual floors. An elevator consists of the year of construction. The silo and cleaning systems for the grain are located on the third floor of the actual mill on the northeast side of Buckau. One floor below are the mixing plants and the grinding mills on the first floor . On the ground floor, the sacks were filled with the finished flour . The drive shaft and the connected gear train with the drive belt are also located on this floor . The turbine house is located in the transition house across the Buckau . A former starch factory , later a bakery, is located southwest of the Buckau. This is connected to the water mill by the transition house.

In 2003, the non-profit association Industriedenkmal Krügermühle Bücknitz e. V. the mill for the symbolic price of one euro. The acquisition was linked to the requirements of a listed building renovation and use. In the restored outbuilding southwest of Buckau, the former starch factory, an extensive technology collection on film and clay history and historical facilities for the printing and hairdressing trade and a historical dentist's practice have been set up on around 2000 square meters of exhibition space . Guided tours of the museum and the mill are available. There is also a small cinema with 42 seats.
