Bücknitz is a former municipality in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark and since the municipal reform in 2002 one of three districts of the city of Ziesar .

geography

Bücknitz is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel on the edge of the Fiener Bruch or the wooded Bücknitz Heath developed on an ice age alluvial cone . The district is traversed by the small Buckau river and the Strynzelbach . The municipality of Bücknitz is surrounded by green and arable land as well as large forest areas.

history

The oldest known written mention of the village comes from the year 1420. In this there was talk of a village "Buckenitz". The oldest building in the village is the village church of Bücknitz from the 13th century, which was built from hewn field stones.

Several Buckau mills belonged to the place. The owl mill is occasionally operated as a sawmill. It is a small hydropower plant and gastronomic facility and a residential area of ​​the city of Ziesar. In the Kruger mill , which was still used commercially until the beginning of the 1990s, flour and meal were previously ground. There was also a bakery there. It is operated by a non-profit association as a museum and small hydropower plant. Only the walls are evidence of the Herrenmühle in the homonymous part of the municipality . It was used as a paper mill until World War II .

Bücknitz was incorporated into Ziesar on March 1st, 2002.

Culture and sights

In the list of monuments in Ziesar are the monuments entered in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.

In the late Romanesque church of Bücknitz , built from field stones, the Bücknitz summer concerts have been held annually since 1998. The Kulturförderverein Bücknitz e. V.

A sight in Bücknitz is the industrial monument Krügermühle Bücknitz, an industrial water mill from 1905, which was sold in 2003 to an association that has since restored the monument and made the technology functional again.

Infrastructure

The community is connected to a central drinking and sewage system. The households are supplied with natural gas. Bücknitz is crossed by the state road 96 and had a rail connection on the Wusterwitz – Görzke railway line . Passenger traffic on the route ceased in 1971. After German reunification in 1989, a shipping location for the companies Quelle and Schöpflin was set up on the site of the former GDR state reserve warehouse in Bücknitz, and they used the siding for goods traffic by January 1999 at the latest. The later owner DHL used only trucks for the transport.
