The owl mill is a watermill driven by the Buckau in the district of Bücknitz belonging to the town of Ziesar . It is also a designated place to live . The mill has recently been used, among other things, as a small hydropower plant .

Historically, several watermills were operated on the Buckau. The owl mill was mentioned in writing in 1408. In 1785, Heineccius described it as a "water mill with two grinding courses and one oil course". The mill belonged to the miller, but he had to pay an annual rent to the Ziesar office. In 1782 six people lived on the mill. In 1884 the existing grinding mill was modernized. Müller was a Mr. Nuschenpickel. The existing buildings date from this time. As early as 1918, the first lighting system was connected to the mill and electrical energy was generated using hydropower. This supplied the village of Glienecke with electricity. In 1928 the Schmücker family took over the water mill. During the Second World War , the owl mill was robbed several times. The mill itself, however, remained undamaged. The mill was used as a flour mill until Otto Schmücker's death in 1961 . His son Otto Schmücker jun. had the owl mill converted into a sawmill in the 1980s . For this purpose, a saw frame from the Goede company from the early 20th century was installed. A new water wheel was also installed in 1982. After only 17 years, the water wheel was renewed in 1999 and replaced by a larger and stronger one. This has a diameter of 6.5 meters and a width of 1.30 meters. The Zuppinger wheel has 40 blades and is primarily used to generate electricity. A three-phase generator with an output of up to 18  kilowatts is connected. The electricity generated is used to generate electricity in the Eulenmühle residential area and is fed into the public electricity network . The sawmill is still functional, but is only occasionally put into operation. It is mostly used to cut your own trees. A guesthouse and restaurant are operated in the Eulenmühle . Guided tours are offered. A mill festival takes place every year on Whit Monday .
