history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 992. In this document the place was exchanged by Otto III. given to the Memleben monastery . At that time she had the Slavic name "Grobizi". In the meantime, the place had fallen desolate and was later rebuilt in the same place, initially as a preliminary work of the Ziesar office. This was recorded as such in 1716 with the name Grebs and was then part of the Zauchescher Kreis der Kurmark .
In 1763, the Ziesarsche Amtsvorwerk was divided among eight foreign new farmers on long leases. Due to poor management, however, they lost it again in 1766 and instead it was also given to the community of Glienecke on a lease basis. From 1773 Grebs belonged to the Ziesar circle of the former Duchy of Magdeburg . In 1782 the place had 55 inhabitants, with a total of 58 born and 36 died here in the previous ten years.
In a description from 1785 it was recorded that the Grebs colony had 13 campfire sites, the residents of Glienecke were parish and were under the jurisdiction of the Ziesar Royal Office. In addition, the following properties were available: 720 acres of arable land, 160 acres of meadows, 50 acres of pine and birch wood, 13 acres of garden land and 10 acres of seed bush.
In 1816 the place came to the district of Jerichow I in the administrative district of Magdeburg in the province of Saxony . Around 1930 the place was still called the Grebs colony and was part of the Ziesar castle district in Gau Morzane. Previously a district of the municipality of Glienecke, Grebs came to the city of Ziesar on March 1, 2002 as part of an incorporation and became an inhabited part of the municipality there.
