history

A residential building in the Herrenmühle district

Several watermills have been built on the Buckau river since the Middle Ages , including near the town of Ziesar. In 1785, the manor mill was described as a watermill with four grinding cycles , leased since 1740 . Nine people lived in the place. The Herrenmühle was used as a paper mill until the Second World War . The property had a siding for handling heating material and rolls of paper. After it was closed, the buildings of the former water mill fell into disrepair due to non-use. The LPG of the former GDR had used buildings for the repair of agricultural machinery. After the manor mill had been transferred back to the former owners in the course of the reunification of Germany, there were several transfers of ownership. In the night of January 4th to 5th, 2016, the former residential building of the mill burned down, probably due to arson. In addition to the dilapidated buildings belonging to the former mill, there are other residential buildings and a trout farm in the municipality .
