Buckau is a district of the municipality Buckautal in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark in the state of Brandenburg and is part of the Ziesar office . In 2002 Buckau merged with the municipality of Dretzen to form the municipality of Buckautal, into which Steinberg was incorporated at the same time . Buckau is located on the Buckau River of the same name , a tributary of the Havel and in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park . In the village the Krumme Bach flows into the Buckau. The federal highway 107 leads through the place. The name is derived from the Polish word buk for beech.
Attractions
Designated architectural monuments in Buckau are a Romanesque church from the 13th century and a mill farm with birch rice mill on the Buckau river with the mill building with a silo extension, a house, a barn, a sawmill and a corner house. The mill was still in operation until 1989. In addition, the rectory, a homestead and an old ammunition store have been declared architectural monuments.
