The power station Aberthaw is a former coal plant in Vale of Glamorgan , Wales , United Kingdom . The town of Barry is approximately 3 miles east of the power station. The installed capacity of the power plant was 1555 MW .
The power plant is owned by RWE and was also operated by RWE. The UK government announced in 2018 that the last eight coal-fired power plants in the UK that are currently in operation will be closed by 2025. The power plant was shut down on March 31, 2020.
