Cranes (noble family)
Krane (also Krahn , Cran , Crone ) is the name of an old Westphalian noble family .
history
origin
The family first appeared in a document in 1429 with the councilor and mayor of Unna Heinrich Krane as the electoral Cologne feudal man in Niedermassen and the countess of the march landlord in Unna. With this Heinrich, who was previously Princely Essenscher Schulte zu Brockhausen near Soest , the family line begins .
Possessions and expansion
In 1447 it was also owned in Unna , in 1496 in Landhausen near Iserlohn and in Rödinghausen near Altena . In 1504 the property was mentioned in Aldenhoff and in 1681 at Matena Castle near Welver . In the course of the 17th century, the family acquired further property. At times she was also wealthy in the Mark Brandenburg .
Status survey
On March 6, 1878, the Prussian major Franz von Krane received from Berlin for himself and his nephews Alfred, Egon and Friedrich the Prussian approval to use the baron title at the same time as Ernst von Krane auf Matena, Erbsälzer zu Sassendorf .
