The St. Elisabeth Bad Hersfeld Hospital was a hospital in Bad Hersfeld . It existed between 1946 and 2012. The building is still used for medical purposes, now as a location for the Herz-Jesu-Krankenhaus Fulda .

history

Hospital St. Elisabeth Bad Hersfeld

In 1928, Catholic nuns of the Congregation of the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus , with a motherhouse in Vienna , acquired a villa and founded a spa and convalescent home. The sisters also looked after the needy and local children and also gave music lessons. In 1946 the decision was made to continue running the house as a hospital.

In 1965 a new building was opened with an operating theater, X-ray department, delivery room , laboratory, kitchen, nurses' rooms and emergency power generator . The first delivery took place in the same year. In 1966 a chapel was built.

From 2003 the house was owned by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent von Paul in Fulda .

In 2007 , the company's specialist departments included surgery , gynecology and obstetrics , ear, nose and throat medicine and internal medicine . Internal medicine was one of the main focuses: oncology , hematology and palliative medicine , gastroenterology , diabetology and geriatric medicine .

In the Hessian state hospital planning in 2005 it was still listed in the basic care for the Fulda / Bad Hersfeld region, subject to economic security. The house last had 54 beds. A total of 71 people were employed, including 10 doctors. Around 2,000 inpatients were treated annually. Around 100 deliveries took place per year, with roughly equal proportions as spontaneous and caesarean deliveries . In the area of childbirth and other areas, the house was in competition with larger clinics, including the Bad Hersfeld Clinic . Christoph Schwab was one of the administrative directors. The hospital closed on March 31, 2012.

After renovation work, the premises in Bad Hersfeld are now used by the department of child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics and psychotherapy of the Herz-Jesu-Krankenhaus Fulda gGmbH. The child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient clinic and day clinic has been in operation in the converted premises of the previous St. Elisabeth Hospital in Bad Hersfeld since 2015, whereby the range of treatments includes both outpatient and semi-inpatient care. Furthermore, a branch of the Fuldaer St.Lioba-Schule (school for the sick) with its own classrooms in the same building is attached to the department to cover the school requirements, so that the possibility is given to teach the different types of school. A multi-professional treatment team consisting of doctors, psychologists, therapists, health and (child) nurses, social and curative pedagogues, educators, curative educators, occupational, movement and nutrition therapists as well as speech therapists are available to help children and adolescents with very different disorders treat and care for.
