The district court belongs to the district of the Cottbus Regional Court and the Brandenburg Higher Regional Court . As a court of first instance, the Senftenberg District Court handles civil litigation, family matters, criminal and fine matters as well as enforcement matters, estate matters, custody, guardianship, custody, land register and deposit matters.

The seat of the court is the city of Senftenberg. According to the 2009 business distribution plan, nine judges work at the local court. In addition, five bailiffs are employed in 2010.

building

The Senftenberg District Court was located in Senftenberg Castle from 1874 to 1910 . Since the official acts increased due to the population growth, the city administration built the new building for 500,000 marks, which was occupied in 1910. It is a neo-baroque plastered building with stone facings and a mansard roof, which is crowned by a turret. The entrance with a central projectile and round gable dominates. The building was renovated in 1995.
