The Cottbus Regional Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of four regional courts in Brandenburg . It is based in Cottbus .

The district courts of Bad Liebenwerda , Cottbus with a branch in Guben , Königs Wusterhausen (since January 1, 2013), Lübben and Senftenberg belong to the judicial district . The Brandenburg Higher Regional Court is superordinate to the Cottbus Regional Court.

history

View of the facade

The building of the regional court is on the so-called court hill. In 1876 the Prussian judicial administration had the old princely house torn down and the state parliament building built. The Cottbus Regional Court was created under the Courts Constitution Act of 1877. The districts of Cottbus , Spremberg , Luckau , Lübben and Calau belonged to the then district . The regional court belonged to the district of the Berlin Higher Regional Court. Guben was the seat of its own regional court. During the GDR era, the district and district court of Cottbus was housed in the district court building. Today's House II served as a pre-trial detention facility for the Ministry for State Security in the Cottbus district . A memorial stone has been commemorating the victims of the Nazi and SED dictatorship since December 3, 1993.
