Parish Church of the Assumption

Flotzheim is a district of the town of Monheim in the Donau-Ries district ( Bavaria ). The village has 360 inhabitants; the district also includes the village of Kreut (90 inhabitants) and the hamlet of Hagenbuch (10 inhabitants).

Flotzheim and Kreut are among the border towns of the Alemannic dialect area to Bavarian . The capital Monheim itself is already part of the Bavarian dialect area.

history

In the Middle Ages, Flotzheim was first owned by the Counts from Graisbach , and later by the Kaisheim Monastery . On May 1, 1978, the village was incorporated into the city of Monheim. Until the line was closed, the place had a stop on the Fünfstetten – Monheim railway line .

politics

Local city councilors are Christof Böswald from Flotzheim (also third mayor) and Alfons Meier (Kreut). Both city councils belong to the Monheimer Umlandliste (MUM).

Church conditions

1065 Phlabsheim is mentioned as a parish church that has existed for a long time. The Counts of Graisbach had the right of patronage as a fiefdom of the Bishop of Eichstätt . In 1321 Count Berthold von Graisbach returned the patronage rights to the Eichstätter Bishop's See. The bishop later granted patronage rights to the Kaisheim monastery, which was given it in 1407 by Pope Boniface IX. was incorporated with the consent of Eichstätter Bishop Friedrich IV of Oettingen . Before the Thirty Years War , Flotzheim was at times Protestant; During the war itself, the parish remained orphaned for a while and was provided from Monheim.

Parish church

The Catholic parish church "Assumption of Mary" is entered in the list of monuments. The tower is probably Romanesque (13th century), the nave was renewed in the 2nd half of the 17th century. The ceiling fresco in the choir room refers to the patronage, is from 1750 and signed “V. GREITHMANN PINX ”. It was discovered during the interior renovation in 1907. Kaspar Schleibner created the other ceiling paintings in 1905.
