Finding the Cross (Unsleben)
The Roman Catholic parish church Kreuzauffindung is the village church of Unsleben , a community in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . Unsleben is part of the parish community "Um den Michaelsberg". The church belongs to the monuments of Unsleben and is registered under the number D-6-73-175-21 in the Bavarian monument list .
history
The parish Unsleben was founded in 1466 by separating from the original parish Brend . The old church was built between 1466 and 1470 and expanded from 1600 to 1602/08; the steeple was built in 1620. The new church was completed in 1936. The inauguration by the Würzburg bishop Matthias Ehrenfried took place on July 5, 1936.
description
The old and the new church form a rectangular complex. The old church, which is no longer in its original state, faced the former choir tower to the east . This has a pointed helmet and ogival sound windows with tracery . There is a connecting structure with an archway between the tower and the new church. The new church is oriented to the north. The nave has six, the just closed choir two window axes . The windows are arched .
Furnishing
The high altar with a crucifix and side figures above the passages is classicistic from around 1780. There is also a right side altar with an altarpiece and a pulpit . A mother of God with angels in a halo replaces the left side altar. The church also contains tombs of the Truchsessen von Wetzhausen, especially that of Bernhard and his wife († 1554). The organ is placed on the southern gallery . The church bell consists of four bells.
