The crucifixion window in Koisdorf is a leaded glass window that is located in the St. Wendelin Chapel in Koisdorf , a district of Sinzig in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Ahrweiler , and dates from the late 13th century.

The crucifixion window in the middle window opening of the choir has a size of 142 by 58 cm. It is in two parts and consists in the lower part of white framework with small yellow and red-violet cuboids in the background, which fill the spaces of the intertwined ribbons. The crucifixion group is located in the upper round arch field , which is inserted into white glazing. The window, which is dated to the end of the 13th century, comes from a workshop we do not know.

presentation

“The red trunk of the cross stands on a yellow hill, the body, which is strongly bent at the hips, wears a puffy blue loincloth; Mary's upper garment is reddish brown. Johannes wears a yellow tunic and a red-violet coat. The halves of Christ and Mary are framed in yellow, that of John dark blue, the footplate of Christ outlined in steel blue and yellow. All parts of the meat except for Christ's feet have been renewed - presumably after old pieces that are missing today. ”The sad facial features of Mary and John are still clearly recognizable. Both are inserted very closely below the crossbar of the cross. Later depictions, such as the crucifixion window in Drove from the 16th century, decorate the scene in a variety of ways, while the Koisdorf window lets the sitter feel the suffering.
