Pastor Ferdinand von Freyhold (1839–1919) designed the Calvary located in the so-called Kreuzwäldchen with a chapel and an adjacent house. The Kreuzkapelle was built in 1879 in neo-Romanesque forms with two west towers. On May 20, 1881, the chapel was consecrated in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows .

The wood pietà was made in Tyrol . The lead glass windows were installed by the Joseph Machhausen stained glass workshop in Koblenz and restored in 2010 by the Maur stained glass workshop in Ahrweiler.
