Kris Boeckmans (born February 13, 1987 in Malle ) is a Belgian racing cyclist .

Athletic career

After he became European U23 road champion in 2009, he drove as a stagiaire at the UCI ProTeam Silence-Lotto at the end of the season . In 2010 he received a regular contract with the Professional Continental Team Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator , for which he won stages at the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen and the Ster Elektrotoer in his first year . In 2012 he switched to the Dutch team Vacansoleil-DCM , for which he competed in his first Tour de France , which he finished in 115th place.

After winning no international races between 2011 and 2014, he won the one-day races Le Samyn and Nokere Koerse as well as the stage races Tour de Picardie and World Ports Classic in 2015 as a member of the Lotto Belisol team . In a fall on the eighth stage of the Vuelta a España 2015 , Boeckmans suffered a facial trauma with multiple fractures, three broken ribs and a lung haemorrhage.

In the 2016 season, Boeckmans returned to racing, but could no longer build on the successes of 2015.
