Kris Bosmans (born April 15, 1980 in Elsene ) is a Belgian cyclist who is active on track and road . He starts in paracycling class C3.

Athletic career

Kris Bosmans started cycling at the age of 15 and achieved first successes in the youth and junior sector. In 1998 he suffered a stroke that took him two years to recover. His right leg, left foot, and left hand have been compromised since then.

In 2008 Bosmans saw a documentary about paracycling athlete Jan Boyen , who had won a bronze medal in the singles pursuit at the 2008 Summer Paralympics . This moved him to allow himself to be categorized as a paracyclist. In 2011 he became world champion in road racing at the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships . In 2012 he started at the Summer Paralympics in London and finished fifth in the road race. tenth in the pursuit and 14th in the 1000-meter time trial . Since 2010, he has also won several Belgian championships.

At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro , Bosmans competed in road races, as well as in time trials and single track pursuits . In the road race he won the silver medal behind the German Steffen Warias . At the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships in 2018 , he became world champion in road racing.
