action

The two extreme surfers Bog and Jeremy want to shoot a surf documentary with producer Zack and his girlfriend and camerawoman Cecily. To do this, they want to travel to a remote island that is said to be home to a particularly large number of aggressive sharks . They try to win John Dirks as a guide to the waters, who at first refuses, but later changes his mind. Dirks' friend Artie as well as the young local Lemmya and her parents Sonny and Melba are also on the way. Dirks is haunted by visions on the way in which people in the water are attacked and killed by something unknown.

Once in the target area, the film team gets to work. Sharks are attracted with bloody meat waste, with Bog and Jeremy surfing between them. Cecily is filming the whole thing from the water when something touches her leg and she panics. The crew can save themselves on the bank and can shortly afterwards observe how the sharks are suddenly obviously killed by a very large attacker. They decide not to continue filming until the next day. Lemmya and Jeremy explore an old temple complex in the interior of the island and get closer in the process. Meanwhile, a huge crocodile attacks the boat on which Sonny and Melba are waiting and kills them both. After Jeremy fell asleep, Lemmya inquired about the area around the temple alone and was also killed by the giant crocodile. Jeremy alerts the Bog, Zack and Cecily waiting on the beach. The three want to escape to their boat, but find it destroyed. They can salvage some of their equipment and flee to the interior of the island, where they are captured by a gang of pirates who want to drag them onto their boat. Once there, they are attacked again by the crocodile. Bog, Jeremy and Cecily manage to feed all but one of the pirates to the monster. The surviving pirate manages to set the boat's fuel tank on fire. Shortly before the boat explodes, Bog, Jeremy, Zack and Cecily escape into the water, where they are rescued by Dirks and Artie, who arrive in Dirks' own boat.

Dirks reports that the monster is a saltwater crocodile about ten meters long , which attacked him once before, killing the travelers he was leading. The crocodile attacks the boat and kills Jeremy. Now Dirks wants to finally destroy the monster. He wants to lure the crocodile onto a reef and then kill it with the explosives stored in the boat. He steers his ship onto the reef and tells the others to go to the island while he tries to attract and kill the monster. Bog, Cecily and Artie reach the shore, Zack loses his nerve and tries to land with a surfboard, but is eaten by the crocodile. Dirks is killed trying to blow up the monster. Since the explosion does not materialize, Bog decides to return to the boat. Meanwhile, Cecily and Artie flee to the old temple complex, as fresh water flows there, in which the saltwater crocodile would perish. On the way they are attacked by the surviving pirate, but can overwhelm and kill him. The crocodile follows the two into the interior of the island, where they find safety on the banks of a freshwater river. A little later, Bog shows up with the explosives from Dirks' boat. They build an artificial bridge over the river and lure the giant crocodile to the other side. There they blow up a rock under which the monster is buried.

Assuming the crocodile is dead, Artie kicks him in the head several times. However, this wakes it up again and eats Artie. Bog and Cecily flee across the island. The monster follows them, everyone sliding down a slope, where the giant crocodile is pierced by a sharp rock. Bog and Cecily, who now assume that the monster will finally die, get closer in a small lagoon.

The last shot of the film pans to the bloody rock point that pierced the crocodile, from which it apparently was able to free itself again.

reception

"James DR Hickox (Sabertooth - attack of the saber-toothed tiger) created a mediocre crocodile horror with simple means. The story is simple, but it's kind of fun. The actors, all of whom are quite unknown, act at best on an average TV level, only Duncan Regehr was able to convince as John Dirks. The crocodile, on the other hand, causes involuntary laughing effects due to the clumsy animation. For an FSK 16 film, however, there were some very bloody interludes that should please even die-hard splatter fans. The film is certainly not a masterpiece, but it provides entertaining entertainment. "

“A coconut has more acting ability than the mimes. The trash even takes itself seriously. Conclusion: the world was a better place without the film. "
