As everywhere in the German Reich , the term district was introduced in 1939. Krommenthal was now one of the 26 communities in the Lohr am Main district (license plate LOH ). With the dissolution of the Lohr district, Krommenthal came into the newly formed Main-Spessart district in 1972 (license plate KAR , MSP from 1979 ).

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community was incorporated into Wiesthal.
