The company Kronenburg BV is a manufacturer of fire fighting equipment and fire engines from Wanroij , Netherlands .
history
The Kronenburg family started out in Culemborg in 1823 as a copper beater and sold air tanks and later hand pressure sprayers .
During the reign of King Wilhelm I, the company was named “Court Leverancier” (supplier to the royal family). Fire fighting vehicles began to be built around 1920. In addition, copper pipes for the drinking water supply were built and fire-fighting water wells were installed. In the 1930s, Kronenburg began to manufacture pumps itself.
During the German occupation, the workshop was used as a repair shop for army vehicles. After the war, fire hoses were also produced, but these were discontinued at the end of the 1970s for cost reasons.
Around 1950 the company headquarters was relocated to Hedel . In the course of time, disposal and other cleaning vehicles were added. In 1972 the Kronenburg brothers company was taken over by Amalga Holding NV. In 1973, Amalga Holding became part of the Internatio-Müller Group. The cleaning vehicles division was taken over by the Haller Benelux company. Kronenburg was merged with Saval BV from Breda in 1975 under the name Saval-Kronenburg BV within the group. Due to strategic changes in the group, there were again two separate plants in 1991, Kronenburg in Hedel and Saval in Breda. Kronenburg was taken over by Rosenbauer International AG on May 27, 1992 .
In 2000, Kronenburg filed for bankruptcy overnight . The company's activities were relocated from the Netherlands to Rosenbauer's headquarters in Austria .
The current Kronenburg BV is based in Wanroij.
