The Princess Martha Coast ( Norwegian Crown Princess Märtha Kyst ) is a stretch of coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies between 5 ° east longitude and the tongue of the Stancomb-Wills Glacier at 20 ° west longitude. To the east is the Princess Astrid Coast , to the west is the Caird Coast of the Coatsland .
The entire coastline is lined with ice shelves ; the edge of the ice reaches heights of 20 to 25 meters. The name Kronprinzessin-Martha-Land was originally applied to this part of the coast by Hjalmar Riiser-Larsen , who discovered the area from Norvegia and roughly mapped it in February 1930 with the help of aerial photographs. It is named after Märtha von Sweden (1901–1954), the wife of the Crown Prince and later King of Norway, Olav V.
The Troll research station is located in the eastern part, 235 kilometers inland .
