Crooked Things on the Bosphorus is a Turkish comedy film from 2005 . Yılmaz Erdoğan wrote the script and directed it at the same time. In Germany, the film was shown in cinemas for the first time on December 22, 2005 .
action
When the unsuccessful comedian Samet tries to kill himself, he is disturbed by Asim, the head of an Istanbul car smuggling gang. He is so impressed by the super costume that the young man strangely wears during suicide that he immediately accepts him into the criminal clan. His helpers and accomplices are so limited that Asim can use a clever fellow thinker.
But when Süpermen, as the clumsy man is called from now on, is supposed to resell his first stolen new car, he ends up with a family of academics who want to find out who turned on a stolen car shortly before. The "sales talk" with the beautiful daughter Umut confuses him so much that he gives her the vehicle for free.
character
Asim Noyan
Istanbul , the city of crooked things and a paradise for little crooks, especially for those like Asim Noyan, who as a gang leader keeps his head above water by selling stolen cars to unsuspecting buyers. Abandoned by his wife, with an Anatolian mustache and gold chain over his hairy chest, he seeks plenty of comfort in strange skirts. Constantly on the run from the horned husbands, one day he stumbles into the basement apartment of the chronically unsuccessful Superman parodist Samet. He is just about to put an end to his life.
Yusuf Ziya
A few blocks away, the unsuccessful sociologist Yusuf Ziya Ocak is sitting in a small bookstore. He suffers from a lack of public interest in his current publication. But on the very same day, an unexpected literary prize brings him the long-awaited scientific recognition and a no less big blessing. Together with his wife Nuran, he decides to give his daughter Umut a car with the prize money. But the dream of luxury is short. For Umut, the first joyride in the vehicle ends at the police station. Car gone, money gone and a police report on my neck.
criticism
outnow.ch wrote: The story is told in an unusually sedate manner and the plot is populated with as many characters as a bustling Turkish bazaar. So the characterization remains superficial, not least for reasons of time. Nevertheless, you can make friends with "Süpermen", a Woody Allen from the Bosporus, the good academic family with the cheeky daughter and, above all, the mustached slob Asim.
