Company building in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen

The Kryolan GmbH is a leading manufacturer of fake blood and theater make-up based in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen .

history

In 1945 the father of the current owner, the Berlin chemical technician Arnold Langer , sold facial tonic, skin and toothpaste from a tray in Berlin, which was destroyed by the Second World War , and developed the first professional make-up in his home. He did not need large financial resources for this, he developed his first products in a wash basin, and he also had a portable gas burner, a stirring rod, a household scale and a melting pot. A short time later the small company had 5 employees, including his son, the current owner of the company, Wolfram Langer. When the first operas reopened nationwide in 1946, Langer expanded his range to include theater make-up. As early as 1941, the entrepreneur supplied the make-up for the actors for the film Women Are Better Diplomats , which was the first German color film to find its way into German cinema history. The company is made up of the first letters of the last name of Heinz Krause, a fellow student of Langer, and the first letters of his surname.

In 1971 the first film producers from Hollywood became aware of the Berlin company.

The company's first global product was artificial blood for filming. As a result, the range was gradually expanded.
