Krystyna Czerni

Krystyna Czerni (born December 14, 1957 in Gliwice ) is a Polish art critic and art historian . In her scientific research, she is mainly concerned with Polish art of the 20th century, and in particular with Jerzy Nowosielski .

Life

Czerni studied art history at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . From 1976 to 1977 she worked in the Jagiellonian Library. She then became involved in independent underground publishing and was arrested and interrogated several times. From 1983 to 1992 she worked at the Department of Art History at Jagiellonian University. From 1994 to 2002 she worked for TVP Kraków and from 1995 to 1997 as editor of the Znak publishing house. Since 1997 she has been working again at the Department of Art History at the Jagiellonian University. There she received her doctorate in 2017 with the thesis Koncepcja sztuki sakralnej Jerzego Nowosielskiego (conception of sacred art by Jerzy Nowosielski).

She has published numerous articles in the magazines Kontakt , Znak , Tygodnik Powszechny , Odra , Res Publica , Kresy , Wielcy Malarze and Przekrój .
