Krystyna Kacperczyk

Krystyna Kacperczyk ( Krystyna Barbara Kacperczyk, née Hryniewicka ; born October 13, 1948 in Kętrzyn ) is a former Polish sprinter and hurdler .

Athletic career

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she reached the quarter-finals over 400 m and was eliminated in the 4-by-400-meter relay with the Polish relay in the lead-up. At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1973 in Rotterdam and in 1975 in Katowice , she won bronze with the Polish team in the 4-by-360-meter relay and the -4-by-320-meter relay.

On July 13, 1974, she set the first official world record in the 400-meter hurdles in Augsburg with 56.51 minutes . On August 18, 1978 she conquered this record at the ISTAF Berlin with 55.44 minutes, which had passed to Tatjana Storoschewa (55.74 minutes) and Karin Roßley (55.63 minutes) in 1977 . One day later, however, Tatiana Selenzowa surpassed this mark with 55.31 minutes. At the European Athletics Championships that took place shortly afterwards in Prague , the women's 400 m hurdles were part of the program for the first time. Selenzowa was the first woman to stay under 55 seconds with 54.89 minutes. Kacperczyk was fifth in 55.55 minutes, but won bronze in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the Polish team.

She was three times Polish champion over 400 m (1973, 1974, 1977) and once over 400 m hurdles (1978). In the hall she won the national title over 400 m twice (1974, 1978).
