Two of the sculptures created during the 3rd East Frisian Sculptor Symposium from July 21 to August 6, 1990 remained after the exhibition in Wittmund and Wilhelmshaven : Miss Lucy Pink by Leonard Wübbena (head of the symposium) and Mann im Tor by Wolfram Schneider. The 4th East Frisian / 2nd Wittmunder Sculptor Symposium took place from July 5th to 23rd, 1994. Then the sculptures Harle-Tor von Wübbena (leader of the symposium) and Madonna remained at the shipyard of David-Lee Thompson in the city of Wittmund and have been part of the art mile ever since.

Sculptures

Quote

The former director of studies Theodor Uebelhoer said in Wittmund in the summer of 2004 about this project:

Works of art in public space are subject to different laws than works of art in museums. They stand at prominent points and are perceived by passers-by without being able to escape the effect of the works of art. But abstract representations allow several interpretations: we want the sculptures for you. .. bring closer. Discussions are welcome. We have chosen the location of the works of art with care. The room environment was given special consideration.
