Art Prize of the City of Bonn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The City of Bonn Art Prize is an art prize awarded by the Federal City of Bonn since 1985 , which is given to artists from the region. Last organized in 2005, it has now been redesigned and launched in the changed form for the first time in 2009.

History and endowment

The prize is the successor to the art prize awarded by the City of Bonn between 1985 and 2005 and, following the redesign that has now taken place, is now linked to a three or six-month international studio grant . The prize is endowed with 20,000  euros in prize money. In addition, there is a travel grant of 10,000 euros and a further 20,000 euros for the exhibition and catalog in the Kunstmuseum Bonn. The city of Bonn's art prize is one of the most highly endowed art prizes in Germany. It is awarded every two years.

There are 14 European capitals to choose from: Amsterdam, Budapest, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Warsaw or Vienna as well as Berlin. The candidates must have sufficient mobility and submit a project outline with their application. The laureate can then spend three or six months in the selected city to implement the project.

The results of the project stay are to be shown in a subsequent exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn .
