Art Association Carinthia
The Carinthian Art Association , founded as an art association for Carinthia , is an Austrian artists association that has existed since 1907.
“The aim from the beginning was to arouse the interest of the public, to create an understanding of art and to offer the Carinthian artists (at the beginning of the 20th century they were a minority) a broad platform for staging and presentation. "
Baron Ferdinand von Helldorf was the founder and first president of the Kunstverein , a freelance painter with excellent connections to the aristocracy and the upper classes, who managed to get his own exhibition house financed on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Emperor Franz Josef's reign in 1908 - the one completed in 1913, today listed artist house Klagenfurt . Franz Baumgartner was brought in as the architect . This built a villa-like exhibition house. Since 2000 the association has had the modernized name of Kunstverein Kärnten .
