Kurt Bösch (born July 9, 1907 in Augsburg ; † July 15, 2000 there ) was an entrepreneur, bibliophile , collector and patron .

As the son of a Swiss architect, he went back to Switzerland with the family after the First World War . In 1952 he took over the sole chairmanship of Alpine AG , which he expanded into a globally active company with exceptional social commitment.

In 1986 he founded the Kurt Bösch Foundation, with which, according to the statutes, he wanted to contribute to the “maintenance of science at the University of Augsburg in research, teaching and studies, in particular by promoting international relations at the university”. This international component is mainly related to the canton of Valais , where Bösch donated two buildings to the University of Augsburg for seminar purposes; In the words of Sabine Doering-Manteuffel with the main idea "that high-quality training has to be more than just increasing knowledge, that it is above all education that comes about through living and working together in a community".

Since 1989 Bösch has been an honorary senator at the University of Augsburg. For his social commitment, Bösch was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1990 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on October 7, 1998 . In his honor, the road to the SGL-Arena in Augsburg was named after him.
