Kurt Busch (lawyer)
Kurt Busch (born June 5, 1930 in Bünde ; † December 31, 2015 in Essen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).
Live and act
Busch was born in Bünde in 1930 as the son of a locomotive driver . After graduating from high school, he studied law and political science in Frankfurt and Münster . He graduated with the first and second state exams.
After working as a legal assistant, he became director of the Herford - Hiddenhausen office in 1960 . Later he was a member of the executive board of the Association of Cities and Towns in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1968 he was elected senior city director of Göttingen and held this office until 1980.
From 1982 he was senior city director of the city of Essen . In doing so, he drove the structural change in the former industrial city. Through his contacts to business, he played a key role in founding the Essen Economic Development Corporation and the Essen Technology and Development Center. These contacts also helped him to promote the arts and cultural life in the city of Essen. When his term in office ended in 1995 and Hermann Hartwich (SPD) became his successor, he held this office longer than all of his six Essen counterparts before and after him. He also managed the business of the Association of Local Shareholders. In honorary posts, he campaigned for the Haus der Technik , Essen's orchestral academy and the Old Synagogue Foundation .
Busch was a member of the SPD from 1959 to 2002.
Awards
Kurt Busch was awarded the Medal of Honor of the City of Göttingen in 1995, the Federal Cross of Merit in 1996 and the North Rhine-Westphalian State Order in 2001 .
