Kurt Busch (physicist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kurt Busch (born January 12, 1967 in Karlsruhe ) is a German physicist and university professor.

Life

Kurt Busch completed a physics degree from 1987 to 1993 at the University of Karlsruhe, which he completed with a diploma thesis on the subject of "Photogalvanic Effect: Shift Currents" with Ralph von Baltz . In his doctorate from 1993 to 1996 at the University of Karlsruhe and the Iowa State University , he dealt with "Transport Properties of Classical Waves in Random Media" under the supervision of Peter Wölfle and Costas Soukoulis . After several graduate support programs, he was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida from 2004 to 2005 . He then worked until 2011 as a professor of theoretical optics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology , since 2011 at the Humboldt University of Berlin and at the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short-Term Spectroscopy . His research includes theoretical optics and photonics from periodic photonic nanostructures , plasmonics and quantum photonics to fluctuation-induced phenomena. Busch also took part in the discussion about the Karlsruhe physics course .
