Kurt Delbrück

Kurt Delbrück (born March 11, 1859 in Kupfermühle near Stettin , † March 15, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant pastor and writer.

Life

He was born in Kupfermühle , a suburb of Stettin , which was incorporated into Stettin that same year. His father Walter Delbrück (* 1828; † 1871) was an insurance agent, his mother Marie Anna née Philipp (* 1831; † 1884) was the daughter of an accountant. The family moved to Halle (Saale) in 1862 and to Dresden in 1866 . Delbrück studied Protestant theology at the University of Halle and was ordained in Berlin in 1884 . From 1884 to 1886 he was garrison pastor in Berlin, from 1886 to 1904 garrison pastor in Hanover and from 1904 until his retirement in 1930 he was pastor in Berlin-Schöneberg .

Delbrück worked as a writer and published several religious writings as well as plays and novels .

Delbrück married Maria von Hindersin, daughter of the Prussian general Gustav Eduard von Hindersin, in Hanover in 1888 . The marriage resulted in two daughters. Delbrück was awarded the Red Eagle Order, 4th class .
