Kurt Gaßner (born April 8, 1947 in Perg , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian teacher, politician ( SPÖ ). From 1997 to 2013 he was a member of the National Council .

education and profession

From 1953 Gaßner attended the elementary school in Schwertberg and from 1957 the humanistic high school Petrinum in Linz . From 1961 to 1962 he was a student at the Dachsberg grammar school in Prambachkirchen . In 1962 he moved to the high school in Ried im Innkreis , where he passed his Matura in 1966. After his military service he began studying sociology at the University of Linz in 1967 and switched to business education in 1969 , which he obtained in 1975 with the academic degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. completed. From 1972 to 1997 he taught at the commercial school and commercial academy in Perg.

Political career

Gaßner was local party chairman of the SPÖ Schwertberg from 1982 to 2007, from 1985 to 2009 mayor of Schwertberg and from 1992 to 2012 district party chairman of the SPÖ Perg .

In the XXIII. During the legislative period he was a member of the Agriculture and Forestry Committee, the Finance Committee, the Court of Auditors Committee, the Ombudsman Committee and was also a member of the so-called Eurofighter Committee of Inquiry. From 2008 to 2013 he was club chairman-deputy of the social democratic parliamentary group - club of social democratic members of the National Council, Federal Council and European Parliament. In his last term of office until 2013 he was a member of the following committees: Subcommittee of the Committee on Agriculture and Forestry; Finance committee; Court of Auditors Committee; Consumer Protection Committee; Agriculture and Forestry Committee; Budget committee; National Defense Committee.
