Kurt Gassen

Kurt Gassen (* 1892 in Berlin ; † 1981 ) was a German librarian and author.

Kurt Gassen studied German , philosophy and history in Freiburg , Berlin and Greifswald . In 1917 he received his doctorate in Greifswald and then gained his first experience in academic library services in Berlin and Kiel. Then alleys went to Greifswald and in 1937 deputy director of the local university library . Since Gassen had joined the NSDAP in 1940 , he was dismissed from library service in March 1946. In May 1948 he was hired again as a "scientific assistant". In 1951 Gassen went to Berlin and in 1953 was employed as a librarian at the German Academy of Sciences and then at the German State Library .
